DOL opens investigation into child labor at Tyson and Perdue Farms

Department of Labor launched investigations into whether migrant children are among those cleaning slaughterhouses owned by Tyson and Perdue. Investigation followed New York Times Magazine report detailing children working overnight cleaning blood, grease, and feathers with acid and pressure hoses. First time DOL attempted to hold parent companies jointly liable for subcontractor child labor violations.
